Creating JV Info Products
for Profit and Fun …
Part Three in a Three Part Series!

Dear Business Builder,

Happy Friday and welcome back to In the ‘Net Trenches.

Over the last two issues, I’ve outlined my step-by-step process for getting started creating your very own joint venture teleseminar series. To re-cap – in part one of Creating JV Info Products for Profit and Fun, we discussed creating a theme or umbrella for the overall series, how to determine the individual call topics and select the experts that can speak to those topics. Plus, what you should consider offering your guest experts in exchange for participating, how to go about inviting them to join and how to get started scheduling your series.

Then in last weeks issue (part two), we discussed how setting an overall goal for your teleseminar series can help you determine how to structure and price your offer.

So, now that we that we’ve invited our guest experts, established a schedule and we’ve structured our offer – it’s time to start pulling it all together into a real live product. Here’s a timeline that will keep you on track to the big day …

Four to six weeks prior to the first call …

In the four to six weeks prior to the start of your call series you’re going to need to write your sales copy … or hire a copywriter. Without going into the specific details of writing copy, you’ll need to include the following in your sales promotion:

  • Benefits participants can expect to receive for attending the call …
  • Specific information about each of the guest experts and what they bring to the table …
  • Dates and times for each of the calls …
  • Offer and price for attendance …
  • What to expect after they place their order …

For an example of what this type of sales promotion might look like Click Here:

You’ll also need to write several versions of shorter e-mail copy that you can use to promote the call series as well as give to your JV partners. This is simply teaser copy that will get prospects interested enough to click through to your sales landing page.

Here’s an example of what these e-mails might look like:

Subject Line: (name), 2007 your best year ever?

And last but certainly not least, you’ll need to coordinate with your guest experts to get any copy for bonus reports they’ve promised to give your series participants and the sales copy they’d like you to use to promote a product or service of their own.

At the same time, you’ll want to deliver any and all copy your guest experts will need to promote the series to their own customers and subscribers and give them the promotion schedule.

Two weeks prior to the first call …

You’re getting close to the big day, and it’s time to start promoting your call series. You’ll want to schedule several promotions for the teleseminar series within the two weeks prior to the start of the call. But you should know that the majority of your orders will come in around 72 – 48 hours prior to the start of the series. Schedule your countdown series and get it ready to go out – you could schedule e-mail promotions to go out at 3 days prior, 48 hours prior and 24 hours prior to really maximize the power of a countdown.

At this time you’ll also want to check in with your guest experts and make sure they’re all set and on schedule. You should have provided everything they needed to promote the series, but it’s always good to double check.

You’ll also want to schedule some time to chat and do a dry run with your first guest expert. Ensure you have a list of questions from your guest and you know what special offer (if any) your expert plans to promote on the call. You’ll want to make sure you allow sufficient time to cover the questions and to provide details of the special offer.

36 – 24 hours prior to the first call …

This is it; you’re getting that much closer to seeing all your hard work come to fruition. About 36 hours before each call in the series, you’ll need to send out your intro and call instruction e-mail. I also recommend a repeat go out about 24 hours prior as well … you want to ensure that last minute participants don’t miss the opportunity to call in.

At this time you’ll also need to give your conference company a total number of phone lines you’ll need. Since you will have already made arrangements with a conference company much earlier in your planning, you’ll need to let them know approximately 24 hours in advance … keep in mind that only about half of your registered attendees will actually call in live. I recommend you re-visit my issue How to Pad Your Profits With
Teleseminar Marketing
for more details on working with a conferencing company.

Plus, don’t forget to give your guest expert the call instructions and let them know what to expect on the big day.

The day of the call …

Plan to have everyone call into the conference line from a land line (no cell phones or VOIP phones) and run through your script. Do everything in your test run that you plan to do on the live call such as recording the call and muting the lines. Taking a little extra time on this step … can save a huge headache when you’re in front of a live audience.

About 15 minutes before the live call, plan to have all speakers call into the conference bridge. I like to keep the lines open as participants join the call and give them an opportunity to chat with the speakers. That is often the liveliest part of the call. But as more people come on the line, you’ll want to watch for feedback and background noise on the lines and mute the participants (or put the call into lecture mode) before it gets too loud.

About a minute before your agreed upon start time, you’ll need to start the call recording. Then introduce your speakers and get started. Work your way through you script and introduce your product. One very important thing to remember … have fun and be enthusiastic. Speak slowly and clearly and be sure to repeat any phone numbers or website addresses several times throughout the call. You might even suggest that participants have a pen and paper ready to take notes before you start.

Periodically throughout and at the end of your call, repeat your guest expert’s special offer and call to action. Make sure to repeat the toll-free phone number or website address where your participants can find more information.

At the end of the call, thank everyone for attending and remind them to check their e-mail box for the audio recording of the call.

After completion of the call, follow through by sending out your expert’s special offer to everyone that is registered in the series. If you’ve promised call recordings, you’ll need to arrange to have an e-mail go out that gives access to all participants as soon as it’s available.

Rinse and Repeat …

You’ll need to repeat the steps that start at 36 – 24 hours for each call in your series.

Good Luck and I hope that helped!
