My favorite email story I’d ever received.

I like it how Indians treat and talk to people, it shatters all your bitch shields, and you just love them for the great respect they give you.

I think I’ll incorporate some "Indian" marketing language into my live person support on my website, and will report later on the results (Have no idea if that matters to someone, because this article is old)

It\\\’s always good to hear real life stories, especially those with a practical lesson.

I can only add that one\\\’s better half has been influential in making the sale, as it was K who brought Michael back to the Betu\\\’s store.

But, then I\\\’m sure Betu did a good sales spiel with K and only had to do a similar pitch to Michael to close it.

Upselling to a better rug though is quite masterful.

Well written, Michael; well done.

Just think how much more Betu could sell if he had a follow-up system to his intl. customers and the connection with a good import/export co.

I also wonder what could be a wonderful premium or up-sell for his biz.

I really enjoyed reading this story! It\’s a perfect example of what Clayton and AWAI teach about drawing in the reader with an entertaining and compelling story–just as the rug merchant did. Beautiful.

Yes, an excellent article and very worth remembering. I read this on ETR some time back and enjoyed it then as well. It\’s good to remember that there are those who will spend much more. We have to look for those clues, and then offer them what they feel they are worth.

It reminds me of a conversation I had with my brother, who\’s a regional manager at Best Buy. Some time back they noticed that there was a certain group of people who wanted to pay top dollar for the best equipment. They also wanted to be waited on, instead of trying to figure it out themselves.

They did a bit of profiling and came up with a good description of this type of person. Best Buy made some changes to one of their stores, creating a special \”high end\” room with only the best equipment. If they noticed someone who met their profile, they\’d invite that person into the special room. Best Buy dramatically increased their sales by offering high end equipment to this special group of people.

Excellent guest article.

You get the impression that Mr. Masterson was in the presence of a \”Master\” salesman.

Although this performance may have been done countless times before, in each case the participants feel that is a unique experience and a \”special event\” in their honor.

Great article, proving that salesmanship and persuasion are universal skills transcending culture.
